today i threw some mudflaps on. rally armor ua ones. not too bad, the fit is alright, i little gap in the rear i dont really like but overall happy.

and yes i did mess around in that dirt parking lot
i also bought a perrin exhaust today but i need to get some gaskets before i can install it.
i have springs on the way but i still need to find struts which is kinda irritating me right now because i cant find a place to buy them. :shootsself:
skid plate is also on the list of things to do.
and of course i need to find a place to drive it instead of random dirt parking lots which i am sure i could get in trouble for.

Looking good, at least you could find a place nearby in San Diego to play around. I never could while I was down there.

Looking good, at least you could find a place nearby in San Diego to play around. I never could while I was down there. well i dont know how much i can actually play. no one really goes up there but its right next to a place that people frequent. i have just been hitting it really quick and then driving around and coming back. i just want to get a feel for the car and how it handles. its my first awd car, so its kinda weird to me. im used to rwd. understeer owns me.
place (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2800+Torrey+Pines+Scenic+Drive,+La+Jolla+CA+9203 7&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=32.66491,82.265625&ie=UTF8&ll=32.889552,-117.247531&spn=0.004225,0.010042&t=k&z=17&om=1)
it belongs to a glider port as far as i can tell.

nice looking wagon, Its great to see the cars starting out in the very beginning. So far it looks like youre getting the basics covered (protection pieces, exhaust).
We have the same problem around where i live. Dirt lots are so appealing, but you almost always have some angry dood yelling and chasing you out, if the cops dont get there first :)
Keep the journal updated!

The flaps look excellent. Good starting point!!
yeah... your in a kinda high profile place there.. it is part of the glider port and I would think that you could be reported in about 30 seconds way too easily - you should pack up a lunch and some water and head out to Johnson Valley on Sun Oct 21st.. a bit of a drive (south of Victorville) but you can watch (or enter) the rally-x and there are miles of dry lakebed to 'get to know your car' which just happens to be the reason I entered a rally-x about 4 years ago (to get a feel for the AWD at the limit in my then, brand new WRX) and I could never stop once I started :)
but just come out with plans to watch & play around a bit but bring a helmet and $50 just in case (or borrow my helmet, I always have a spare with me but I never have a spare $50, sorry - my wife sees to that cause she knows I will buy more car stuff)

yeah, i dont plan on making it a habit to go there. thats just asking for trouble. i just go to the beach and that happens to be on the way. i dont hang around there for more than 3 mins, unless i am going to the cliffs to hang out. i hear there are some dirt roads off of julian canyon road(which is fun by itself).
hmm that sounds really good. link to the event? i have a motorcycle helmet(snell), good enough? do you have to be a member of nasa/scca?
i dont know if i want to drive though. i dont think the car will be where i want it to be by then.
but anyway im looking for stuff like this so let me know where i find future stuff like this.
there may be a post on DI someplace but I know this will get you there:

and I can assure you that 'being ready' means having (or borrowing) a Snell 95' or newer helmet and paying your entry fee.. no need to join anything & no need to have a clue of what to do... just show up and find the only SRT4 there and ask me anything.. or just show up, bring your helmet and do a couple of ride-alongs with people (most people, including myself) are always happy to have someone experience the joy of being sidewayz and welcome you to come along as a passenger... I seem to go faster with a bit of ballest - then afterward you can take your car for a little 'cruise' around the perfectly flat (and a little dusty) dry lake bed to test the breakaway point and see just what happens at say 70 mph when you throw the car into a slide... ok, if that sounds scary or dangerous then just try it at 30mph or 20 - whatever - it is wide open pretty safe (both to you and your car)..
*edit- BTW the access road into the dry lakebed is 150% worse then any part of the rally-x course

Ain't that the truth. The more you do it, the more into it you get. And not just wanting to drive either, but financially and time. Thanks to Aaron I've become a full time rally freak, you'll see me on here at all hours of the day/night as well as spending way too much money on the addiction. I really need to register for a hockey league here so I get somewhat distracted from it and spend less money for awhile. At least with that it's just the league costs and sticks.

For rallyx you don't need skid plates or anything different for suspension. A lot of what you see us talking about suspension is better suited for non race off roading or stage rally. Stock suspensions are great for rallyx.
