Interesting!! However this is the same "venue" where the R4 events were held and it was price prohibitive then!! I doubt with them putting that much work into the venue that it would be cheaper so don't get your hopes up.

i'm more excited about a practice course to run in between events going out to the desert is good and all but it's nothing like the tight technical aspects that rally-x is. i found that after trying to practice as much as i could before novemberfest i got use to higher speed turns and ended up waaay over driving the course on day one.

I just hit them up to see what we could do about organizing an event there. If the pricing is not prohibitive (which I fear it will be) I'll see if we can pull something together there!

Eons ago I belonged to a Riverside-based autocross club and we had a special arrangement with Riverside Raceway. We helped them out at their events: ticket takers, parking control, even operated manual scoreboards. In return they let us put on events at the Raceway no charge on open weekends. Just a thought.

Well the email I got back didn't answer my question! It was merely a copy of what is said on their site which doesn't help at all!!

whoa! I almost scorched my shorts. This would be so awesome..... but I'll believe it when I see it.
On the upside, they probably have all the graders, water trucks, and insurance taken care of... not sure if that would bring the price down but it would sure be an easy venue to run.

I noticed this ...
Pictures are not of the site
but an example of a track with grass infields and multiple variations
I'm interested to see how this goes as it is similar to what we are working on in GA.

Hi all,
This really is big news for SoCal; a dedicated facility with multiple dirt-Motorsport track configurations specifically focused on Rally-based programs. I have been working closely with the developer of RallyCrossUSA for a couple months and we are currently finalizing the details to host the 2010 Western States SCCA RallyCross Nat. Challenge Championship on June 19/20th. The San Diego Region SCCA and CalClub SCCA are backing the RallyCross effort at this venue. Obviously there are a lot of topics and details that an to host and number of events including RallyCross, testing, "track" days, and potentially European RallyCross style events in the future.
Understand that the intent of this Motorsport Park is to be totally accessible, safe and open to the grassroots car enthusiast. Obviously it must host profitable events and gain investment to pay the bills but the founder wants this to be a place that you, the Dirty's and the like, can show up and just drive. For me, as a volunteer event organizer and competitor, it means there will be a centralized place to hold events without the ever common issues of permitting, noise, rocks/dust, etc, etc.
The topic has come up in this thread regarding the course design. Yes, the developer wants to have two mirror imaged courses that will be extremely hard packed clay with red and white rumble strips at the apexes and safe runoff areas. The design intent is geared towards lower speed agility features, not long straights and high speed corners. All of this can be further modified with pylons. Any street car can run on these courses without the concern for rock damage or extreme dust. This facility is a clean slate at this point and I am also looking into the available space (parking/pit area) that caters to the traditional loose surface that we all are accustomed to. It is very likely that the fixed courses and surrounding dirt areas can be adjoined to make a multi-surface course design. I personally think that would be a lot fun and I am interested to see what you guys think and/or prefer.
With the various RallyCross organizers working on the calendar for 2010 and Leon Styles looking to build up another RallyCross/RallySprint course at his new Paint Ball Facility, we are challenged again with the possibility of “Too much of a good thing”. Preparing for the National Challenge is a priority for me right now and I would like to see one event before and after the June Challenge at this new site. For the record, I am offering all dates at Lake Elsinore to be part of the CRS/FRX Series including day 1 and 2 of the National Challenge. I will be contacting the various organizers personally on this topic (we will talk soon, guys). For now, let me know what your thoughts are and if you would support the events that were held at RallyCross USA.

I'll support this, when I can make it down for events. Thanks for whatever time you have in this Bret. SCCA West Championship on June 19/20. Something before would be nice also.

if Brett gets events there as part of the SCCA National Challenge, that spells contingency money!!
I would make it down there for a 2-day event.

Jon, to tie into events at Lake Elsinore, Nat. Challenge events can be done at PC for contingency also. Which could lead to a west coast series, of sorts. Thankfully Lake Elsinore isn't as far south as Soak City, dang only about 3 miles from Mexico.
Bret, great news. Just to clarify -- I know (or assume) that San Diego Region SCCA has backed your play at Soak City. In what capacity is Cal Club going to be contributing?

I have exchanged some emails with the developer at Rallycross USA and it sounds like he has a pretty good idea of how the facility is going to operate. I am very excited for grading to proceed and to see the track once the surface has been prepped and things are ready to go. Lake Elsinore is a very good location as from just about anywhere in the southland it takes about an hour to get to. Having somewhere that is permantently setup in the long run could really pay off (no need to lay out hundreds of cones, easily accessible facilities, no problems with dust and adjacent businesses...)
Indeed there is the possibility of having low(er) numbers at some of the rallycross events if there are too many crammed into one area, but this facility sounds awesome and i am planning on shooting down there as soon as i hear it is open or available for testing.
Great work on getting the SCCA Rallyx Nationals going there Bret!

Very interesting indeed. I have been pondering selling my car... This just goes on the list of reasons to keep it.

yeah I know....Pego has me chalked in for a challenge event in the spring, assuming I don't tread on her dates in March. depends on the venue...but thunderhill isn't playing nice, so everything might be PC this year.

Didn't Bret say something about this at Glen Helen? Honestly, I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention at the drivers' meeting since I wasn't driving. . . but something about it not going through? IDK - anyone remember? Correct me please?
Would be sweet but thought it was way expensive.
I think he said there was a $$$ breakdown between the owner and the promoter. So he dropped them and found a site outside of Temecula at some sort of ranch/resort.
