Uses:
-95% daily driving
-5% abusing on logging trails, dirt roads, finding remote beaches, bumps, jumps, yumps, etc.
Goals:
-dependability
-simplicity (I'm not a mechanic and will be paying a local to assemble for me)
-around a 1-2" lift
-the ability to fit somewhat oversized tires (maybe not quite as big, but see: http://tinyurl.com/yl46clr or the JR car)
-no butt sag
-not outrageously stiff
One of my stock struts is pretty beat / loud. A local has some 04 STI struts for sale but I'm hearing that I will have camber issues in the front.
What are my best options? AGX's w/ jackson 1" lift + ____ spring? Forester struts?
Side questions: To run a larger size tire like the JR wagon, will I pretty much need to abandon fender liners? How big of a tire on a 16" rim can I roll with? I think fat tires + surf boards on roof will make for an awesome look.
TIA,
Robert

this might help get you started with choosing a tire size with a lift

i think that JR has posted in one of my threads that 29" is about the max total diameter that you can squeeze under when staying at the stock ride height. (i don't know the formula for figuring this out from using tire sizes, but team illumina has the formula on their website pertaining to rally tire sizes)
also i'm pretty sure that JR has the tire size he runs in his build thread.
hope that helps

i know the agx's with the jr lift kit is a great option as far as springs go though i'm planing on using OBS springs to lift my coupe but you don't have that option for a wagon so i'm not sure on good springs for you i know sti springs are nice but they will lower the car slightly and i know you want to lift. maybe look into forester sti springs? hopefully someone with wagon experience will chime in

i've got a set of sti take offs that i'm waiting to put on my wagon with some agx's, from what i've seen\read the sti springs will lift wrx sedans slighty due to the extra weight from the 6mt, while still giving you the stiffer spring rate. i'm not sure about the wagon(find out when i do it:eek:). i've also read that the wagons tend to sag a bit in the rear when you do this. here are some links

also if your going to run forester struts you could look into the forester pink sti springs???
Edit: i was wrong about the raising the car:shootsself:, here's another link that talks about running sti takeoffs and spacers.

I recommend Tokico D-Specs with the JR spacers. As far as springs go, you could either stick with stock (highly recommended for what you're doing with the car), go with OBS springs, get STi take-offs, or go with wagon Pinks. I did the latter, and I am very happy with the whole setup.

Well, I was waiting on this for a while for funds sake, but I might need to make a move really soon. (Tires need replacing, and I'm not going w/ a stock size just to replace em with bigger in a few months).
How well would JR 1" spacers w/ a complete 04 STI suspension work on my 05 WRX wagon? Someone local has a set, which is amazing. Would I have serious positive camber issues in the front? Or is there non terrible way to make it work?
