Well I'll just piggyback on this intro thread I guess, since the Evo needs some reppin'. Hello my name is Phil and I am a dirt slinging Evo driver. Probably at least half of you already know me, I know about 10 times as many Subie drivers as Evo drivers.

There are actually more of us.. just only a few 'regulars'. There's the dude with the tricked out white one that blew a clutch at GH3, the other tricked out white one that did really well last year, there's Lisa K with her Evo VI and VII (she does proper rallies).. and there are some other guys round here who will come out and race on the dirt but aren't quite as psychotically committed as the rest of us :D It's kinda weird how the Evo has this reputation as a 'street/track car'.. I remember a couple years back listening to some kid watching an Evo at a rallycross who was saying "ha, that's not a rally car, Evos were built for the track".. dumbass.. I refrained from asking if he'd ever heard of Tommi Makinen :D

It's just nice to see EVO drivers getting into rally. It's what their cars were designed for, and it makes me sick when I see one, or a WRX/STI for that matter, all pretty looking and not used for what it's made for.

Heh.. for me it's more rally fanatic getting into an Evo.. I've been watching rallies since I was a little kid, so when they released the full-on real Evo here in the US I jumped on it, bought one of the first day they were released, sight unseen. I was one of the first Evo VIII owners anywhere in the world actually :D

I love how this one can start a near riot on any forum but I'm glad you can all see that my SRT loves the dirt and my Impreza stays pretty damn clean.. I know, I got it all backwards ... :lol:

I talked to those guys at GH3..

I pulled in at like 6:45am and Mike was there and the two guys with a H2 tow vehicle and the white rally Evo.. brand new.. they had never even driven it before so after talking for a bit, I suggested they take it down one of the sand wash roads (actually I was thinking that I should take it down the road to warm it up first) on the way in just to get a feel for for the car prior to the start line & they said they had it built for stage rally but had never even done a rally-x before... I got the impression that money was not a real big concern for them.


then it blew up, they loaded it into the trailer and left...... never to be seen from again?
