i have seen the posts on forester suspension, and am wondering what year touse. also, i was wondering if anyone knew any other options in the same price range. ideally, i would want maybe 2.5-3 inches instead of 3.5 -4.
Also, i am wondering what problems to expect with this setup as im in high school and only work part time, so money is a slight issue at barley over minimum wage(although it is not a complete problem) I am overall trying to find the best effective setup for more ground clearance thru colorado snow and unexpected rocks in it that could tear right thru my undercarriage.

You should be able to use any 1st gen. Forester suspension on it. Just be advised that you will have caster issues in the rear.

whatexactly do thje caster issues do and will my car still be reliable.. at least somewhat, if driven slower and all due to extra stress on parts from lift

Here is a link to our suspension tuning thread over at RS25.com

Follow that link and you'll find a good explination of what castor is as well as a picture to help you visualize it.

Sadly I don't know of any decent middle-ground lifts for older Imprezas. I know GD struts raise the car up a bit, but I think it's only 1-1.5".
