What kind of tires for mostly tarmac rally

For rallies with lots but not all tarmac, what kind of tires are people using? (Targa comes to mind)

I haven't done one (yet) but I'd run tarmac rally tires from any of the major manufacturers. It would all depend on how much gravel and/or snow/rain there would be. A decent set of all season performance tires like Michelin Pilot Sport would be my next choice again, depending on weather conditions. If it were somewhere dry I would hit up Hankook for a set of 17" Vetus RS-2 or similar street tires.

I don't do any rally, but I just purchased the RS2's, and they are simply amazing so far.
I had Toyo T1R's before, and they were fabulous, except for one big issue - weak sidewall IMO. No matter how much I aired those up, I would roll over.
They were absolutely fantastic in the wet, however.
I haven't really had the RS2 in the wet, yet...at least not cornering.

I've had RS2's before and what little it rains out here, they performed well. Great sidewall if you get the "XL" load rating (I don't think they make a non-XL anymore anyway). I just bought another set because TireRack.com has them on clearance at $71/tire for 245/45-17 which is the size I run on the STi street car.

I have the 235/xx/17 I don't remember...
I bought them used off of a guy that rides a Mazdaspeed3. He decided, after about a month, that he didn't want them anymore. The middle tread line still said Hankook!
I got them for $275 mounted and balanced!

at LSPR we ran gravel tires on the tarmac stage - they really aren't that bad if you have the diff in the proper setting (there was a stage with mixed gravel and tarmac and I didn't change the diff halfway through and it got kinda sketcy)
