Looking at buying a 2001 OBS

Hey guys, I'm looking at a 2001 Blue OBS 2.2L with 122k on the clock, it's in good shape and runs strong drives straight and all that, I'm just curious if there are any common problems with these cars or anything I should look out for. Thanks!

Nothing unusual. Just treat it as you would any other car. Run a carfax, check all fluids, check compression, get your ass under it, and maybe bring a friend. Also the more maintenance records the better. One good thing about second hand Subies is that they've typically been owned by older folks who tend to not beat on them much. One more thing, make sure the timing belt has been done, and they have records to prove it.

Perfect, thank you. Info about the timing belt was exactly what I was looking for. He said he had the Sube dealership perform the suggested 100k mile maintenance which I think includes the belt, but I will find out for sure.

Cool deal! The more records and receipts the better. Even if he doesn't have them I'm sure you could contact the dealer to check up on the service history.
