so recently the rs started "hitting a wall" so to speak when i try to accelerate at low rpm's. it's happend in almost every gear ex. neutral i've been using injector cleaner but it seems to be getting worse. this week i'm going to try replacing the plugs and plug wires.

i guess my questions are:

1: what are good plugs for a stock rs that are reasonably budgeted?

2: if this doesn't work what else do you guys think it could be? bad injector maybe??

anyways thanks in advance for any help.

"hitting a wall" / "loss of power" = hesitating? And only under load, if it doesn't happen in neutral.

Usual questions:
- is it completely bone stock?
- is the CEL on? is it throwing any codes?
- have you cleaned your MAF?
- how old / how bad are your: air filter, fuel filter, plugs
- how many miles on the oxygen sensor? How about the knock sensor? (neither would be the first stop on this diagnosis but the car is of the right age for stuff like that to be going south)

What am I forgetting?

It was bad plug wires on mine when that happened. It kind of sputters and craps out when trying to take off at low rpms but is better at speed correct? Start there first.

Yes phil it's hesitating and only under load.

ok so it has cat back and k&n air filter that's it...

the cel is on throwing a code of p1507 idle control system malfunction
and p0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (bad caty?)

the air filter was cleaned very thoroughly right when this started. as for fuel filter and plugs idk that's why i was going to replace the plugs. i've never cleaned the maf. (i wouldn't know how to but i'm sure i can find a write up and will try it) i'm assuming that the oxygen sensor and knock sensor are the originals so i'm guessing a little under 140 k.

yeah that's exactly it i'm going to do the plug wires and plugs at the same time hopefully tomorrow or the next day.

Thanks Louie i'm hoping that's it because funds are low and i want to make it to Novemberfest

It should be it. A quick way to check may be to fire it up and pull one wire at a time. If you pull a wire and it idles worse then that wire is probably good. If you pull one and there is no change then the wire is probably bad but if you've never changed 'em before it's probably not a bad idea anyway.

Make sure to get NGK's or Densos, no Bosch platinums or other bs. I run NGK Irdiums in mine but they aren't the cheapest. Regular NGKs or Densos will be just fine.

If the plugs aren't what is causing it then do a fuel pressure check. Sometimes if a pump is going out so to speak the car will bog etc. under a load because once the load increases on the pump it just can't do it.
