Hello,

New to the world of subarus, and this crazy high offset shenanigans are getting me.

I've done some searching around and haven't been able to find a database of other manufacturers (and subaru) wheels that will fit my 02 WRX's brakes and not tear body pieces off. I'm specifically searching for 15" wheels, but would also be interested in knowing if other sizes fit as well.

I'm looking for specific first hand knowledge that (VW/Audi/Pontiac/Scion/Toyota/Alfa) won't fit because their hub bore is too small.

Or, these particular 15" (Jetta/Feiro/Legacy) wheels hit WRX brakes.

Or, the 6.5" wide wheels on a (Golf w/ BBS) are too low an offset.

Those are just examples, but could somebody point me in the direction of a thread where somebody else has tried a few junkyard wheels?

I spent alot of time in the Pick n' Pulls in St. Louis with a 240SX hub/brake and different wheels figuring this out on my last car, but now the closest one is 3 hours away.

If I can get some definitive answers, I can buy whole Fieros at Police auctions down here for less than I'd spend in gas getting to the nearest Pick n' Pull.

Hopefully I can get some info together and make a FAQ

Thanks for you help,

-Matt

My '99 Forester had twin piston front calipers and 15" steel Subie wheels. I'm pretty sure your car has a different front brake set-up but these still might fit or at least give you a place to start.

The ones in this picture:

They were originally silver but I spray bombed them black to match the car.

keep in mind... the ones pictured above are steel wheels and if you plan on running rallyx with rally tires or snows, steel wheels should not be used. there have been members on this board that have bent and/or pulled lugnuts through the wheels due to the forces placed on them.

from what i've heard (and i have not had the chance to test for myself) most of the subaru 15" alloys require some minor grinding of the calipers to fit.

i thought the 95-99 legacy 15" alloy's fit WRX 2-pots?

i haven't had the chance to try a set yet... i know that some oem 15" wheels need the calipers to be ground down a bit to clear. not sure if the legacy 15's are one of them.

another option too is to step down to a smaller caliper in the front.

i have 2.5i fronts on my wrx and have had no problems fitting even 15" steelies over the brakes. i have not noticed any difference in brake bite (and i'm running cheapie pads) but also do not drive my car hard on the streets for extended periods of time so fade has not been an issue either. (i have done one autox in the car but 40 second runs are hardly enough to see alot of fade IMO)
