Hello,

I have 2005 WRX, and I'm thinking about upgrading VF39Turbo/STI pink injectors/STI IC.

Cobb does have a map for this(Cobbs says 349HP at crank), but what would I want to get so the rest of my car doesn't break.

Thanks,
Ted

How many miles on the motor? Any existing problems with it? You'll also need a high-flow fuel pump.

Depending on how you drive it, there's always the possibility of breaking a transmission.

My car is an '02 with an '04 transmission in it with about 115,000 miles on it (a lot of them rallycross miles). I'm making probably 300whp now and I know the transmission could go at any time.

its around 70k on motor/tranny.
I heard lightweight fly wheel takes stress off of tranny, but if you get this - do you need a tune?

No, you wouldn't need a tune just with a new flywheel.

It's probably not a bad idea to put a new clutch in since you'll be making more power. Do the flywheel and clutch at the same time, but I don't think the flywheel is really going to save your transmission...just might as well do it if you are doing the clutch.

I have an Exedy "Sport" clutch and stock flywheel.

A lightened flywheel is purely a mechanical mod (weight reduction) so i don't see any reason why you would need a tune.

some have had a check engine light with the lightened flywheel. (or so i've heard)

i have an exedy light flywheel and clutch in my 05 wrx, only because the previous owner had it installed and it does make the car rev happy but any type of hill start requires a lot more revs than a stock flywheel and it seems to bog down some. i personally would stick to the factory flywheel have it resurfaced if needed and add a good clutch with reasonable torque handling even one around 400 ft/lb would handle the vf39 with the cobb tune.

I just put in a Fidanza 9.5 lb flywheel and a Spec stage 1 organic clutch (good for 410ft lbs) and I love it. Little getting used to the flywheel, but i love it, more responsive and more forgiving on up and down shifts when not rev-matched.
