LOL ya, but there's a lot of other parts in our cars. Look under the driver's door controls, they're made by Nissan at least in 06/07.

No, its not the vf34, refer to my first post in this thread. All non STI versions of the US model of the WRX use the Mitsubishi TD04 turbo.

And it is also indeed true that nissan makes some of the parts under those pretty scooby doors. I had to take my panel off the other day due to, get this...a mouse apparently setting up shop inside my passenger door and having a feast on my door wiring harness and thus causing my windows to malfunction, actually more accurately, stop working, so now If I catch him, there will be one less mouse in the world. But yeah on my 02 WRX there were some nissan bits and pieces....

Nissan WAS 20% share holder in Subaru for MANY years... Now that share has been sold to GM.... Atleast they aren't dropping GM quality parts on the subarus yet...

nissan is not only a car manufacturer but a parts manufacturer/supplier, even though nissan sold their share of subaru to GM (ugh) i'm sure you will continue to see nissan parts here and there...

GM used to own the majority stock of Subaru, until they sold it to Toyota. Hence why the new Impreza looks like a matrix.

Hmm.. not a majority.....

On October 5, 2005 Toyota stated that it will purchase 8.7% of the shares of FHI from General Motors. GM announced that it will divest its 20% stake in and eventually sever all ties with FHI. FHI has stated that there have been 27 million shares (3.4%) acquired before the start of trading by an unknown party on October 6, 2005. It has been speculated that a bank or perhaps another automaker was involved. Toyota announced a contract with Subaru on March 13, 2006.

It is currently an affiliate of Toyota Motor Corporation, with their owning 8.7% of FHI. They acquired that stake from General Motors, who bought 20% of FHI in 1999 to have an extended presence in international markets, and collaborate technologically with FHI. Before that, the stake owned by GM was owned by Nissan, who acquired the stake in 1968 during a period of government-ordered merging of Japanese auto industry to merge in order for improved competitiveness under the administration of Prime Minister Eisaku Sato. Later on, they would utilize FHI's bus manufacturing capability and expertise for their Nissan Diesel line of buses. In turn, many Subaru vehicles, even today, use parts from the Nissan manufacturing keiretsu. In fact[citation needed], it was Subaru that introduced Renault to Nissan when they asked for assistance in all-wheel drive (AWD) technology, when FHI told Renault to discuss their plans with Nissan, the discussions eventually led to the successful Renault-Nissan alliance.

You made me do research  FHI = Fuji Heavy Industries

Hmmmm....I swore I read that when Toyota bought those shares that they became the majority stockholder. Question is though does GM still own any shares of FHI?

I am not sure but I think that Subaru snuck away from GM... When I was at the plant in Lafayette Indiana they mentioned something about that and also they are building the Camery along side the B9, Forester and Outback... I have pictures but not of the process :-(

Hm.. Well it said they "DIVESTED" their shares....

Definition: In finance and economics, divestment or divestiture is the reduction of some kind of asset for either financial goals or ethical objectives. A divestment is the opposite of an investment.

Often the term is used as a means to grow financially in which a company sells off a business unit in order to focus their resources on a market it judges to be more profitable, or promising. Sometimes, such an action can be a spin-off. Other times divestment can occur when required by the Federal Trade Commission before a merger is approved. A company can divest assets to wholly owned subsidiaries.

The largest, and likely most-famous, corporate divestiture in history was the 1984 U.S. Department of Justice-mandated breakup of the Bell System into AT&T and the seven Baby Bells.

So maybe GM just sold them all off... Maybe they went back to FHI or they were sold to the public? It says someone bought another 3.4% ....

Wikipedia FTW!

The under-utilized Subaru of Indiana Automotive plant in Lafayette, Indiana will hire up to 1,000 workers and set aside an assembly line for the Camry model, beginning in spring 2007.

I love it! not to mention that plant produces 0% landfill.

on their test track, or shall I say in the middle of it, which is the second largest oval in Indiana, is a Blue Heron nesting ground. and for the past 3 years they have been announced as a wild life habitat or something like that.
