Lars is that one that build my cage.
He was in this car at Gorman w/his son if anyone happened to see him driving around. Hopefully he'll be at Prescott competing with it.

I saw the car in the service area at Gorman too, I gave him the thumbs up, I can't wait to see it out on the stages.

Pulled this from the build thread: "For the build we started with an EVO X turbo, manifold, downpipe, inter cooler, interc cooler piping, and WORKS air filter..."
Then saw this on the marketing page: "The engine, which is very lightly modified, is so far pushing only about 260hp and 308 lb/ft of torque."
I think the term "lightly modified" is a little liberal here, but whatever. I hope the car hits the stages soon and kicks some ass.

Lars seemed like a really cool guy. I thought that was awesome of him to come out to Gorman to show some support.
Thats a nice looking EVO...
...etnies as a sponsor huh? Trying to compete with DC?

I was confused by that too....the EVO X COMES with all that stuff, so its a little misleading, but i'm pretty sure the car is mostly stock and just a tune.

It's a Ralliart not an Evo X! They put Evo X parts on it to get more juice.

Right, that's my whole point. They made it seem like the car was stock.

I'll find out the next time I talked to Lars. RalliArt isn't much more than the badge on the grill (I think). I read in the EVO forum that they got the car direct from Mitsubishi (stock) and have it for a limited period of time and then have to return the car to stock where it will be crushed.
afaik, RalliArt is like Saleen, or Prodrive or COBB...but I don't think they've done any work to this car. but like I said, I'll probably chat with Lars this week and I'll find out.
from troy@works:
beetle_orange - Yup, you read it right. This car was given to us from Mitsubishi and we have to give it back to them in stock form. Then it will be crushed. There is a certain number a cars that are given to press, beta-testers, and companies each year. They all have an allotted time on the road and then have to be returned to Mitsubishi before the paperwork expires. After the paperwork expires they get recycled (crushed)

well hell if that car is going to be crushed then they should just destroy it in rally fashion... find a henkelstein on the side of the road and hit it.... or just roll it over a few times to the point where it will be a crumpled unrecognizable piece of RALLYART!!!!

Ralliart is a particular model of Lancer now. It's a direct WRX competitor a step below the Evo X. No flared fenders, different suspension, smaller turbo, and intercooler. It looks like they added all the Evo X bolt ons to up the power which like Dave said doesn't make it stock. I'll be interested to see how the TCSST transmission holds up to stage abuse. Is it even legal for RA? I thought flappy paddle gear boxes were not allowed?! If so they may have switched to an Evo X GSR tranny. I'll have to read this when I get home.

After reading the link it appears they left it stock with the exception of some exhaust work and the ECU flash. Sayin that when Dave and I drove one we felt it had a lot more power than the 236 hp it was rated at. We both believe it has closer to 250-260 stock which makes 260 at the wheels very believable with minor mods. It also stated that they're using the TCSST so I guess it's somehow legal. We'll see how it holds up!!

Ralliart is to Mitsubishi as Mugen is to Honda or AMG is to Mercedes-Benz
i.e. factory-owned "sports" division

^ You guys are correct. Ralliart is more than just a badge on the grill. The is car is one model below the EVO. It lacks the S-AYC, but is still AWD and comes with the TC-SST transmission out of the EVO MR. There are no 5 speed versions. Think EVO "light". Very cool to see one being built for rally.
I honestly think; in a better economy, these would be flying off the lot. I've been hearing rumors of a 5 speed. Not having a true manual transmission hurts sales too. Some people don't want the TC-SST.

They should be able to run the factory paddle transmission as long as they run it completely stock.
If they modify it they will more than likely not be allowed to run it...

I think the only people truly complaining about the TC-SST are the ones who feel like their penis would shrink if they weren't driving a true manual. If someone only drives manual and wants a car like this, they will just get a WRX without making a fuss about it.
The TC-SST trans is freaking amazing and I cant complain about it one bit personally.

I'm not denying the awesomeness of that transmission. It is a feat of engineering for a car in that price range. Some customers like to shift with a stick and don't like the styling of the WRX, but don't want to spend the extra money on a EVO GSR like I did. My biggest reason for not buying a TC-SST car is that once it is out of warranty. The transmission is not serviceable. It must be purchased as a complete unit which cost $9k. I didn't want to run into that 5 years from now if it were to break while out of warranty. Just to service the fluid will cost you about $200. It takes special fluid because it operates like the wet clutch of a motorcycle. Its cool, I would just get out of the car before the warranty runs out.
