hmmm...does that really work? I might have to try that for thunderhill. If it really works I think I'm gonna start keeping some tape in my car for this. I know my cabin air filter hates me and when I turn on the fan or ac I can smell the dust particles in the air from previous off road adventures.

If you rip out the interior you can wash it out with a hose...

Or if your like me you can just rinse everything down with a hose :-D

It works ... as long as the engine bay seal-to-hood is good, and the sides are also sealed to thr fenders. ( on an '05 )

That's pretty clean looking, but not legal in many rally events. Definately not legal for Rally America. Where's that car being used?

What years your car ? ... it doesnt matter. Open te hood, look where the windshield wipers are. The black plastic with all the holes. Tape them ALL off. They stech from the center to thedrivers side kinda, between the wiper arms. The hood seal Firewal/raintray to the hood seal has to be good along with the sides of the huge plastic "covel" piece by the fenders might need some tape.

Of course, your "fresh air" setting on the HVAC will be usless, non funtioning ... we'll its still function, but it will just suck air ( or whatever debris are ) in from the rain tray.

Some more pics of my 300$ car, not its finest hour ...

Donno inside the dash somewhere ... you have to remove the whole globox to get to it ... awesome, awesome design . ( sarcasm )

I have changed the cabin air filter 2x on my 04 STi (so the place will be identical on an 05). It is located behind the glovebox. They glovebox is not difficult to remove, just pop the guides out of their tracks and let the box fall all the down (past its normal resting point) so you have access to the screws that hold the bottom of the glovebox in place.

Behind it is a while plastic assembly (if i remember correctly). The cabin airfilter is in there. A little thing that i like to do is put 1 dryer sheet on top of the filter so it blows out fresh smelling air into the car. Its a bit strong at first, but run your cabin fans on with the windows down while driving on a short trip and its nice after that.

Another thing we like to do with the cabin filters is make our own HEPA filters that filter out alot more (finer) particles. Plus they are WAY cheaper than the factory filters.
