05 STI axles in an 06

Well I have an 06 STI and one of my front axles has a little hole in the boot and there is a guy I know parting out an 05 which has 2 good front axles and was wondering if the 05's will fit in my 06, plus they are so cheap it wouldn't hurt to have a spare. I think they are the same but I know that there is some differences in the splines but i dont know what years the differences are. Thanks for any help.

I am pretty sure that the differences in the splines happened in late 2004. The '05 STI front axles should be the same as '06 STI front axles. They should both be "male" types...

05-07 are the same, 04's are different

Are you not able to just reboot the cv joint? would save you the money for something else down the road.
