Ok so I think I found a car but I need input. Would a 2008 Honda Fit, manual transmission, 117 horse power 16-valve i-VETC engine, 4 cylinder engine be any good? Its a basic model so I figure its pretty light weight, small and fairly low to the ground so not a high chance of tipping over.... I think.... input would be wonderful. Thanks!

I love fits. i was about to get one but then they came out with the 09 models that i think are butt ugly...but anyways there a great car along with bad ass gas milage and a great aftermarket support if your looking to mod it. check out fitfreak.net there a great community and really friendly ppl also loads of info on the car.

That would be similar to a mk3 Jetta or Golf which have about the same amount of power, and are extremely fun to drive! Also with the 16v head and VVT you'll have tons of fun modding it. Do suspension work, maybe add a turbo or supercharger and get about 80hp gain.

This is the stuff that I could've done to my VW and I know is possible (although don't know about the superchargers for fits) and would make that car wicked fun. Put a nice throaty intake, nice sounding low pitched exhaust (please for all that's right and nice in the world) don't put a cheap ricey sounding exhaust on that!!

After the suspension, and power, ok and maybe brakes too. That car will be so much fun, you'll want to sleep in it.

*misses my MK3 Jetta at times*

pm Subydude to get him to post here. He RallyCrossed an auto Fit here in OVR for a little while. He then switched to a Civic Si, so he should have some good feedback.

kraftwerks makes a super charger and hks makes a turbo for fits.

Thanks for all the info, sounds like a Fit would work nicely. I am going to try it out stock first and see what I want to change about it.

Like Draco said I rallyx'd an auto 07 fit sport. Quite a bit of fun as long as you keep the RPM's up. I did it on the stock all seasons as well and was able to beat out a few ford focuses. The engine has good torque (for a honda) and a decent top end, and with a manual it would be even easier to keep the engine spinning where you want it.

The only downsides I saw was it's rather narrow and tall. It also sat lower to the ground so you tend to pick up dirt and scrape the bumper a lot. My wife co-drove with me one day and I nearly shat myself when she pitched it at 45mph into a sharp right hand turn. It held and didn't tip, but I credit that more to my 230 lbs sitting on the right side of the car than anything else.

Overall, it's a good starter car. Get some decent snows and run it in SF for a while. I'd suggest fabbing up a skid plate and some mud flaps. It's definitely a momentum car so try to stick as much as possible to the inside line around corners where the grip will be. If you get stuck out in the muck thrown by the AWD/RWD cars it'll take a LONG time to get back up to speed.

After you get bored of SF, try PF with some decent rally tires. The stock rims are perfect for rally (15x6 I think), so pick up a set for cheap and slap some tires, an intake, exhaust and you're set.

Hope I answered your questions and good luck!!!

Thanks for the help, looks like I better keep my speed up and my turns some what slow. Would adding weight to the floor of the car help that problem, I know it would spoil the handling and acceleration. Where can I order a skid plate and is it hard to self-install?
