Just found out about DirtyImpreza and this looks like a good place to find out about doing dirty things with my car. I'v tracked my car a few times and done about a dozen AutoX races, now I'm looking into RallyX. I've spend quite a few years in the dirt in a dune buggy I built when I was 16, and in an old Land Cruiser. I've been on some logging roads around here in my car, but no racing yet. Here's a pic of my baby at Pacific Raceways for an HPDE.

I've been on NASIOC for about 2 1/2 years and have learned a lot. I'm looking forward to learning more about the dirty side of life...

Let me be the first to welcome you to the site! I am glad that you came across our forums, as you will find rally and rallyx type stuff only touched on in many of the other forums. Here we are all about it!
Logging roads sound like a ton of fun to get a feel for how the car handles on some of the loose stuff. I wish we had stuff like that around here, but we improvise. Have you considered paul elkund's rallyschool in oregon? I hear nothing but positive things about it.

Welcome, you definately came to the right place to get info on getting your car dirty. I too have heard nothing but positive things about Paul Eklund's school, and I'm headed there this coming weekend myself. Can't wait to see pics of your STI covered in mud.

Tks for the welcome. I'll look into Paul Eklund's school, but I think I'll start out a little more slowly like in RallyX.

Yeah, just because you took rally school doesn't mean you have to dive headfirst into stage rally! You'll find that many of the techniques taught transfer directly over into rallycross.

Welcome welcome! The only thing the car is missing is a good ol set of mud flaps :-)

So do mud flaps actually keep the mud off the side of your car, or just keep down the rock chips? I've seen some pictures of pretty muddy cars on this site with mud flaps... :o

Good point, just like an HPDE makes you a more proficient driver on the street.

Yes the mudflaps do cut down on the amount of debris that hits the side of your car as well as dirt. But in some cases theres just no avoiding it...
