where the madness begins
http://www.40roll.com/wrx1/lostmymind.JPG
I've started a project that I think I've done lost my mind for doing but I'm going to try it out. I'm doing my WRX in truck bed liner. Duplicolor Truck Bedliner to be exact.
But I figured guys on here would respect the madness I'm attmepting. . I've scractched the heck out of my car doing mud runs and other dirt play. I got tired of worring about the paint because I bought the car to enjoy.

Before I started the project
I realize this is not for everyone.

2 coats. Allot has been learned about spraying. We know how to fix mistakes. We also learned how to not make certin mistakes.
We plan on 4-5 coats in the end and from our testing 3 coats is where the Ts stripping begins to become unnoticable.

We should have some more updated pics from TY later today. There are flaws and I will not hide them . I will explain
how we've found to fix and prevent them. I'm making a video as we go along with tips and our mistakes and how we fixed them.
It needs more coats but this can give you guys a sneak peak.

New pics up in the Flickr Set (http://www.flickr.com/photos/35468151137@N01/sets/72157618744646614/).
I would like to point out that there's a Thorne in that trunk. Yes, Thorne has dressed up for Halloween as the ass end of his car. Five months early.

setbacks :(
The bumper beam subaru sent is the wrong one.
I also think I need another tranny piece. I'm calling
monday. Sam's been great and I'm sure will have it
to me quickly.
http://www.40roll.com/wrx1/sidefront2.JPG
I've got to respray a fender. Lesson DO NOT SPRAY ABOVE .
For the roof fine but we had allot of repairs on this bumper
and it causes texture issues when applied from above.
It's coming back off the car and going to be resprayed.
We do have most of the car together.
I went ahead with Draco's help and did the Bug eye mod.
http://www.40roll.com/wrx1/Headlight.JPG
I did it a little diffrent. Instead of full on black on the edges
I did like a speckle of the duplicolor stuff.
Sorry or the low qaulity shots Ty will be over to take more shots.
A few things to note. We've learned from the trunk lid you have to
Spray the car down after painting to get the excess residue off.
Trying to blend the pattern much before then is pointless.
Pattern wise you can get pretty uniform. But there are a few still spots.
I'm going to see if I can blend it better once I get the car power
sprayed.
http://www.40roll.com/wrx1/sidefront.JPG
BUT
Even with the texture changes the reaction from everyone local has been
that it looks evil. I really like how it sparkles in the sun.
This project is a diffcult one. But if your like me and want to
Rally your car or your paint is shot and your worried about rusting
your baby out and don't have a huge budget to fix it. This looks awesome.
I think it could look good also using the roll onn product. I have not tested
But I'm thinking about testing it out. It may be easier to lay down.
This has been a long project and I promise how to video and final outdoor shots
of the car as soon as I get it on the road.
